Web 2.0 Business Report

1.0 Introduction
During the BTX4C business exam, I am assigned to explain web 2.0. This is to be submitted by the end of the two hour exam period. Through out this report i will discuss what web 2.0 is, web 2.0 applications and directions of web 2.0 for the future.

2.0 Findings
2.1 What is web 2.0
Web 2.0 is considered the second generation of the world wide wed. It is an interactive website as opposed to a straight foreward information based website. Web 2.0 has shareable content and social networking.

2.2 Internet applications
Some internet applications considered to be web 2.0 are TravelPod, Facebook, Youtube, Twitter and Blogspot. Some of these websites are extremely popular and therefore show us that web 2.0 is going to be very involved in the future.
2.2.1 Application 1: Facebook
i) Facebook is a social networking site designed to keep people in touch. It is web 2.0 because anyone can create an account and post text, pictures and video on this website, then other people can comment or like anything. Facebook is very much web 2.0.
ii) GDCI uses facebook to keep in touch aswell. All of the teachers have created accounts and groups, and they can post information about field trips homework or assignments for students to easily access. Facebook also makes it easier for teachers and students to keep in touch if there are questions concerns or comments about the class or school.
iii) Businesses can also use Facebook for the same reason that GDCI does. Employees can keep in touch and aware about tasks or projects, They can contact or send information via Facebook and they can have discussions if nesseccary over a facebook message and include any amount they need for the discussion.

2.2.2 Application 2: Youtube
i) Youtube is a social networking site designed to allow anyone to create an account and post their videos and see other peoples video that have been created. This is web 2.0 because anyone anywhere can post a video or comment on someone else's videos. Youtube is very itneractive which is web 2.0
ii) GDCI creates videos from assmeblies and events at gdci then posts them on Youtube. They could take it a step further and create links or embed the videos onto the GDCI website for anyone attending or planning on attending the school.
iii) Youtube is great for businesses. It provides an opportunity for free advertising where millions of viewers are likely to see their video. Many companies have already done this such as Nike, Old Spice, and Evian.

2.2.3 Application 3: BlogSpot
i) Blogspot is an website where you can create an account and make blogs for free. This is web 2.0 because there can be more than one person creating the blog and you can comment on the blogs. It allows people anywhere to post their information on the website and thus, Web 2.0
ii) GDCI does not use the appliation. This is likely because GDCI already uses Facebook and Blogspot would offer the same uses as Facebook does. It would allow classes to create a blog and post information or questions where the teacher could answer them, etc.
iii) Businesses could use the application for the same reasons as GDCI. Employees could have a blog going where they can post information, work or questions of the task. Also businesses could have a blog for the products they are selling, posting information about the products, release dates for products etc.

2.3 The future of web 2.0
I beleive that in the future web 2.0 will be all there is. There will be no operating system on your computer because everything will be on the internet. Word documents could be in Google Docs, videos will be created on Jay Cut and store on Youtube or Facebook, pictures will be stored on Flikr, etc. There will be no need for Microsoft Office or Corel Presenations because everything will be saved "in the cloud." Websites like Facebook, Myspace or Twitter will be the primary way of keeping in touch, and no one will use their phone to call someone they can just use skype to stay in touch.

3.0 Conclusion
In this report I discussed what Web 2.0 is, internet applications, and the future of Web 2.0. Web 2.0 is very popular and is the future of the internet. Maybe something new will be created in the future, but until then Web 2.0 will be extremely useful and fun.
